We need some help and there’s a bit of a back story to this one.![]()

This picture is actually a photo of a delightful old painting which at one stage was hung on the walls here @newinnheckfield ![]()

It was painted in 1910 for a previous landlord of the pub and was a prized possession. When that gentleman retired and left the pub he naturally took that painting with him as a keepsake to provide a lasting memory of his time here in Heckfield.![]()

Upon his death in 1977, the great grandson of the old landlord met with Basil Francis (landlord at the time - Andy’s father) and felt it was only right that the painting should be given to The New Inn. Basil was touched by the gesture and it was proudly placed on the walls of the pub as a nod to the history of the place and there it stayed for many years whilst Basil & Win and subsequently Andy & Lindy were at the helm.![]()

It’s not known exactly when but at some point whilst Hall & Woodhouse were the tenants here at The New Inn this painting went missing and this is where we need your help.![]()

The great grandson recently visited the pub and asked if we knew the whereabouts of the painting so after a bit of digging around we really would like it returned to the pub as a mark of respect to the past so it can be hung on the walls again.![]()

If anyone knows where the painting is now or can help with repatriating this painting to The New Inn then we would be most grateful. If anyone returns the painting and would like to remain anonymous that’s fine, we understand. Can you help?![]()
